DVI has built a reputation in the Healthcare industry for being a reliable design resource and in some instances turn-key provider of in-hospital communications systems.
For Jacobi Medical Center (NYC HHC) and Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) DVI was responsible for the design, engineering, acquisition of all technology and security systems for the new 1000 + bed In-patient Tower, Emergency Room and Surgical Suites at Jacobi Medical Center. DVI as part of a joint venture with a large electrical contractor and supported by numerous subcontractors provided all Design of the Design–Build project. This project encompassed the deployment of nearly two (2) dozen technology systems including:
- Expansion of an existing NEC digital PBX and the addition of VoIP options
- Installation of an Extreme LAN
- Telecomm Structured Cabling Plant to Patient Bed (headwall), Nurse Stations clinics and offices
- Siemens Wi-Fi system
- Patient TV
- Nurse Call System
- Paging, Code Blue
- Operating Room and Pathology Video
- Security CCTV and Access Control
- Nextel cell phone repeater system, and
- Mission critical patient telemetry systems (ICU/CCU).
Also for Jacobi, DVI provided consulting services for the design and implementation of the access control and CCTV systems for the new medical facility and incorporation into existing systems. DVI also provided the cable infrastructure design and implementation management and provided all of the electrical requirements for these systems. The security systems (access control/CCTV) portion of this project was very large and complex. DVI worked closely with the Health and Hospitals security and police departments in designing the interfaces for these systems that would allow them to be incorporated into existing CCTV and Access Control Systems installed throughout this huge medical campus.
