Number 1 American post-trade financial services company

DVI is can assist mission-critical firms re-engineer their WANs to support very high throughput communications, even when major legacy elements must be retained.

For the Number 1 American post-trade financial services company DVI supported the re-architecture and migration of the firm’s nationwide 800-node Participants Network to a new Frame Relay Network with a SONET metro area backbone network connecting the firm’s three Data Centers. These nodes are located throughout the United States and Canada, and include a wide variety of networking systems.

The new network replaces the firm’s legacy private line SNA/BSC–based network. The network also included extensive Network Management capabilities using frame relay probes and ISDN dial backup. A rigorous procurement process was conducted, including requirements specifications, RFP, vendor evaluation and pilot testing. To ease the migration of this technology to its customers, a hybrid solution was selected, with Cisco routers supporting SNA requirements and Hypercom FRADs supporting BSC requirements. DVI also supported the firm’s pilot rollout. Following the firm’s acquisition of PTC, DVI assisted in defining the consolidation strategy the firm’s and PTC’s disparate client/server computing platforms.
